Friday night lights are coming back to Brazil for the second consecutive season with the Los Angeles Chargers confirmed for the Week 1 matchup on Sept. 5 in Sao Paulo at Corinthians Arena.

The NFL’s first regular-season game in the South American nation was played at the same venue last season between the Eagles and Packers. The site was used during the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympic Games, and the league felt it was important to return to the home of what the NFL said is its second-largest international fan base after Mexico.

The kickoff time and opponent for the Chargers are expected to be announced in May when the NFL releases its full schedule.

Beginning in 2025, the NFL can schedule as many as eight regular-season games internationally.

The NFL has confirmed two games in London with the Jaguars part of a third in an annual commitment to play a “home” game in the UK while also announcing games in Berlin, Germany; Madrid, Spain; and Dublin, Ireland.

During Super Bowl LIX media sessions, the league confirmed long-swirling rumors it would play a game in Australia. That game will happen during the 2026 regular season in Melbourne featuring the other L.A. team, the Rams.

This will be the fourth International Series game for the Chargers, who previously participated in games in London (twice) and Mexico City.
