Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff did not participate in practice for the second straight day on Thursday.

Goff is nursing an oblique injury he sustained in last Sunday’s 16-16 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Should Goff be a spectator this Sunday, Tim Boyle likely will get the nod to start for the Lions (0-8-1) against the host Browns (5-5).

Boyle, 27, remains in the 21-day practice window to be activated from injured reserve. David Blough is the only other active quarterback on the roster.

Goff, 27, is 25th in the NFL with eight touchdown passes in 2021, his first season in Detroit following the offseason trade with the Los Angeles Rams involving Matthew Stafford. He has only one touchdown pass in the past five games.

Goff was sacked four times by the Steelers and went for tests on his oblique Monday. He was sacked five times the previous week by the Philadelphia Eagles in a 44-6 loss.
