The New York Jets, who saw noteworthy poor quarterback play in 2022 and missed the playoffs following a 7-4 start, have parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, multiple outlets confirmed on Wednesday.

LaFleur, who joined head coach Robert Saleh in leaving the San Francisco 49ers for New York in 2021, was serving as an NFL coordinator for the first time with the Jets.

Former No. 2 overall draft pick Zach Wilson (2021) failed to develop in two seasons under LaFleur, posting back-to-back quarterback ratings of 69.7 and 72.8, eventually losing his starting job in November following a 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots.

Wilson returned to play in losses against the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Saleh addressed Wilson’s future on Dec. 23.

“We’ve got to help him, we’re not going to quit on him,” Saleh said. “We’ve got to do our best. And that’s for every player in our locker room, as long as they’re wearing a Jets logo, we’re going to pour our hearts and souls into them and do everything we can to help them.”

The Jets, who finished 7-10 after six straight losses to end the season, ranked No 25 in total offense (318.2 total yards per game) over the course of the season.

LaFleur is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
