NFL: Jets activate second-year RB Breece Hall from PUP list

The New York Jets activated Breece Hall from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday, one day after agreeing to sign fellow running back Dalvin Cook.

Hall, 22, ran for 463 yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in seven games in 2022 before his rookie season ended with a torn ACL against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 23.

The second-round pick from Iowa State also caught 19 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown. He posted a 100-yard receiving game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 and a 100-yard rushing game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6.

At the start of training camp, Jets coach Robert Saleh said he expected Hall to be ready for the Sept. 11 season opener against the Buffalo Bills in East Rutherford, N.J.

Hall’s return and Cook’s impending arrival give the new-look Jets offense a formidable 1-2 punch in the backfield for new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Cook reportedly agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $8.6 million on Monday. The four-time Pro Bowl selection was released by the Minnesota Vikings on June 9 following his fourth straight 1,000-yard season.

Cook, 28, is coming off shoulder surgery and is still at least a week away from joining the Jets in practice, according to ESPN.
