Michael Strahan will make one Giant leap next month.
The New York Giants legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer is heading to space on Dec. 9 aboard the New Shepard, a spacecraft owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ company Blue Origin.
Strahan, who turned 50 on Sunday, made the announcement Tuesday on social media and on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the show he has co-hosted since 2016.
“I want to go to space,” said Strahan, who reported on Blue Origin’s first flight in July. “I think being there at the first launch, it was really mind-blowing.”

The 10-minute flight will launch from West Texas with six people on board, including four paying customers. Ticket prices have not been disclosed.
One of Strahan’s fellow space tourists will be Laura Shepard Churchley, the eldest daughter of late astronaut Alan Shepard.
Strahan made seven Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl ring during his 15 seasons with the Giants (1993-2007). He set the NFL single-season record with 22.5 sacks in 2001 and retired with 141.5 sacks, second in franchise history to Lawrence Taylor with 142.
Strahan was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. The Giants will retire his No. 92 jersey on Sunday when they host the Philadelphia Eagles.
