NFL: Giants WR/returner Gunner Olszewski injured in warmups

New York Giants kick returner and wide receiver Gunner Olszewski was ruled out of Sunday’s season opener at home against the Minnesota Vikings when he came away with a groin injury during warmups.

Olszewski had been dealing with a groin issue since the second game of the preseason.

In five seasons with the New England Patriots (2019-22), Pittsburgh Steelers (2022-23) and Giants, Olszewski has returned 98 punts for 1,170 yards and two touchdowns, including one for the Giants last season. He also has 41 kickoff returns for 904 yards.

Olszewski, 27, also has 15 career receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown in 65 games (four starts) as a wideout.
