New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor will start his third straight game Sunday in place of the injured Daniel Jones, coach Brian Daboll announced Friday.

Taylor is 1-1 in his previous two starts while subbing for Jones, who will miss the game against the Jets due to a neck injury sustained in the Oct. 8 loss at Miami.

Jones has yet to be cleared for contact, prompting reporters to ask Daboll if he can say for certain that the quarterback will return this season.

“He’s getting better. We’ll see where he is next week,” Daboll said. “I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries.”

When told that he sounded less confident about Jones’ status, Daboll added the following: “Yup. I just go with the information that I get, and today he is out and getting better.”

Jones, 26, has completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 884 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions through five starts this season.

Taylor, 34, has completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 571 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He owns a 27-26-1 record over a 13-year career with six teams.
