New York Giants offensive tackle Evan Neal passed his physical and was activated off the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.

Neal initially was placed on the PUP list on July 23 prior to the start of the team’s training camp.

He aggravated an ankle injury on Nov. 5 in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, which wound up being diagnosed as a small fracture. He underwent a procedure on the ankle Jan. 5 and took part in some offseason drills but missed Giants minicamp in June.

“I just know that with the rehab process he’s had a few good days here in a row,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said Sunday. “Everybody feels good with where he’s at. So now it’s the ramp up. It’s start with individuals. And we’ll monitor it after we go through individuals. Today will be shells. The next two practices will be pads.”

Neal, 23, has played in 20 games (all starts) in two seasons since New York selected him seventh overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Also on Sunday, the Giants also signed linebacker K.J. Cloyd and waived defensive back Kaleb Hayes.
