The Atlanta Falcons conducted a virtual interview with New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich for their vacant defensive coordinator position on Wednesday.

Ulbrich, who also was defensive coordinator, went 3-9 leading the Jets after the firing of coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start.

Ulbrich spent six seasons (2015-20) with the Falcons earlier in his career. He coached linebackers throughout his tenure but also was assistant head coach and interim defensive coordinator for part of the 2020 season.

Atlanta is looking for a new defensive coordinator after dismissing Jimmy Lake following an 8-9 season.

Ulbrich, 47, interviewed for the Jets’ head coaching position on Monday.

Ulbrich played 10 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 2000-09 before moving into coaching.
