Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders will miss Sunday’s game with a broken bone in his hand but is not expected to go on injured reserve.

Head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed Monday that Sanders is out for the Week 17 game at Washington. The team is hopeful he can return this season.

Sanders, 24, sustained the injury late in the first half of Sunday’s 34-10 victory against the New York Giants. He did not play in the second half and left the stadium wearing a soft cast on his left hand.

Sanders leads the Eagles with 754 rushing yards but has yet to score a touchdown in 12 games this season. He has 26 catches for 158 yards.

Philadelphia leads the NFL with 163.2 rushing yards per game.

Jordan Howard and Boston Scott will carry the load against Washington (6-9) on Sunday as the Eagles (8-7) look to remain in the NFC wild-card race.
