NFL: Draft record-setter: 11 QBs taken in first 150 picks

The Green Bay Packers’ selection of quarterback Sean Clifford from Penn State in the fifth round of the NFL draft on Saturday was a record breaker.

NFL Network reported that this is first draft in history in which 11 quarterbacks were taken in the first 150 picks. The Packers nabbed Clifford with pick 149.

Overall, 14 quarterbacks were selected in the three-day draft.

The Minnesota Vikings went on to add Jaren Hall of BYU with the 164th pick, making him the 12th quarterback selected in the first five rounds. In the sixth round, the count grew to 13 as the Philadelphia Eagles selected Tanner McKee of Stanford with the 188th pick.

TCU’s Max Duggan, the Heisman Trophy runner-up, ended the flurry by going to the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round at pick No. 239.
