The Washington Commanders placed running back Brian Robinson on the reserve/non-football injury list Thursday.

That means the rookie, who is recovering from gunshot wounds, will not be able to play until at least Week 5.

The move, coach Ron Rivera said, is “about him recovering, not just physically but mentally.”

Robinson went directly to the team facility on crutches not long after being released from the hospital on Monday.

“Knowing who he is and what type of young man he is and wanting to get back as quickly as he could, doctors thought it would be a good decision,” Rivera said Thursday.

Robinson, 23, was shot in the glute and leg during an attempted robbery or carjacking Sunday night in the nation’s capital. The 2022 third-round pick underwent surgery Sunday and was released from the hospital Monday.

The Commanders also re-signed linebackers David Mayo and Jon Bostic, and placed tight end Curtis Hodges on the injured reserve.
