Cleveland linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. was carted off the field due to a left knee injury during the Browns’ home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

Walker departed with 10:34 left in the third quarter. The Browns ruled him out a short time later.

After the Browns’ 29-17 victory, Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski said Walker was due to have an MRI exam.

“It’s a huge loss with Anthony Walker if this is a longer-term thing,” Stefanski said. “We know what he brings to the football side of things, but he’s a captain and he’s a leader, so we’ve got our fingers crossed and definitely hoping for the best for No. 5.”

Walker took a blow to the face from Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Chukwuma Okorafor during a passing play and fell awkwardly to the turf. Okorafor then dove on the back of Walker while guard James Daniels inadvertently stepped on Walker’s legs.

Walker was the second Cleveland linebacker to be injured in the third quarter. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah departed with a quadriceps injury.

Cleveland defensive tackle Taven Bryan sustained a hamstring injury in the win.
