San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings could miss Sunday’s home game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hip injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday.

Jennings, 27, missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

“He’s in jeopardy,” Shanahan said on Bay Area radio station KNBR, per 49erswebzone.com. “I’m hoping that he can turn around here and have a good day tomorrow and feel better, but definitely, right now, it’s no guarantee.”

Jennings has started two of six games and has 25 receptions on 36 targets for a team-high 404 yards with three touchdowns. His biggest performance came when star receiver Deebo Samuel was out with a calf strain and Jennings caught 11 of 12 targets for 175 yards and three TDs in a 27-24 loss at the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 22.

He had three catches for 27 yards in the 49ers’ most recent game, a 36-24 victory over the host Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 10.

San Francisco (3-3) selected him in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. Jennings has 103 receptions for 1,367 yards and 10 TDs in 51 regular-season games (nine starts).

Samuel has been limited at practice this week because of a wrist injury. Kickers Jake Moody (right ankle) and Matthew Wright (shoulder/back) did not practice on Thursday.

Running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) was limited on Thursday, but Shanahan was optimistic he will play Sunday against the Chiefs (5-0) in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl won by Kansas City.

“We’ve stayed off him all week, just so we (don’t) hurt him or make it any worse,” Shanahan said in the KNBR interview. “Put him in a blue jersey so nobody hits him too hard. He’s doing good. He’s had something like this before, so I think he’ll be good by Sunday.”
