Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers makes his return from a two-game absence to start against host TCU in Fort Worth.

Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed Ewers would be back on the field for the Saturday night game.

Ewers sprained his right throwing shoulder during the third quarter of the Longhorns’ 31-24 win over Houston on Oct. 21. He began throwing the football late last week.

“Quinn’s going to start Saturday night,” Sarkisian said on Thursday. “Not limited at all. He looked great this week.”

Ewers has completed 70.9 percent of his passes for 1,915 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions this season for seventh-ranked Texas (8-1, 5-1 Big 12).

Redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy started at quarterback the past two games and guided the Longhorns to victories over BYU and Kansas State. Murphy passed for 418 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the two starts.
