NCAAF: SMU coach Rhett Lashlee gets extension

SMU and head football coach Rhett Lashlee have agreed on a multi-year contract extension one year ahead of the Mustangs’ move to the ACC, the school announced Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by SMU.

Lashlee led SMU to a 10-2 mark this season and a trip to the AAC championship game on Saturday against Tulane. Lashlee, 40, is 17-8 in two seasons at SMU.

SMU earned a No. 25 ranking in Sunday’s AP poll, its first time being ranked this late in the season since 1986.
