LSU running back John Emery is expected to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL, The Advocate reported on Wednesday.

Per the report, Emery sustained the injury during Tuesday’s practice, two days after he rushed 10 times for 61 yards in the Tigers’ 27-20 loss to Southern California. That game marked Emery’s return after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee during LSU’s 52-35 victory over Florida last season on Nov. 11.

The No. 18 Tigers (0-1) will look to rebound on Saturday when they play their home opener against FCS opponent Nicholls in Baton Rouge, La.

Emery has rushed for 1,123 yards and 14 touchdowns since joining LSU in 2019. He sat out the 2021 campaign due to academic reasons.

Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson are expected to see an increase in workload in place of Emery. Williams had nine carries for 33 yards and Jackson rushed five times for 14 yards against the Trojans.
