Quarterback Cam Rising is no longer a member of the Utah roster, head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed.

Injuries limited Rising to three games last season after he missed the entire 2023 campaign with a torn ACL.

“I’ve talked to Cam a few times, but that is really up to Cam to divulge that when he wants to divulge what his plan is,” Whittingham said at a press conference Tuesday. “We’ve certainly had communication and you don’t see him on the roster right now, so that can tell you some things there. I’ll leave that up to Cam to outline exactly what his plan is.”

Rising led the Utes to back-to-back Pac-12 championships and Rose Bowl appearances during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He set career highs in 2022 with 3,034 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.

A knee injury sustained during the Rose Bowl against Penn State on Jan. 2, 2023, kept him off the field until 2024, when finger and leg injuries limited him to three games.

Rising completed 63.0 percent of his passes for 6,127 yards with 53 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 30 games for Utah. He also rushed for 986 yards and 12 scores.

Utah’s remaining quarterback room includes transfers Devon Dampier (New Mexico), Brendan Zurbrugg (Oklahoma) and Nate Johnson (Vanderbilt) plus incoming freshmen Wyatt Becker and Jamarian Ficklin. The only returning scholarship QB is Isaac Wilson.
