NCAAF: No. 1 ATH Michael Terry III stays in state, signs with Texas

Texas reeled in Michael Terry III, ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the 2025 class, Wednesday on National Signing Day.

Terry signed his official documents in a ceremony at his high school. Alamo Heights, in San Antonio. He kept his decision under wraps until then and picked the home-state Longhorns over finalists Oregon and Nebraska.

He could provide a threat at multiple positions for the Longhorns. He excels at running back and wide receiver and also has played on defensive snaps.

According to 247Sports, Terry had more than 1,800 rushing yards, 1,300 receiving yards and 54 total touchdowns entering his senior season.

As of Wednesday morning, Texas was vying with Georgia and Ohio State for the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.

Also signing for the Longhorns on Wednesday were safety Jonah Williams and wide receiver Kaliq Lockett.

The 247Sports composite lists Williams as the No. 1 player at his position — eighth in the nation — and Lockett as the No. 4 wide receiver.
