NCAAF: Draft notebook: NC State CB Shyheim Battle leaving for NFL

North Carolina State cornerback Shyheim Battle announced Wednesday that he will skip his final season of college eligibility and is declaring for the NFL draft.

Battle had seven interceptions and 144 tackles in four seasons for the Wolfpack.

“I’ve got some big news to tell you,” Battle said in a video announcement. “This is a tough decision to make … but I would like to say that I will be declaring for the 2024 draft.”

–West Virginia defensive back Malachi Ruffin declared for the draft. Ruffin had 77 tackles and three interceptions during his four-year college career.

–Kentucky tight end Brenden Bates is entering the draft. Bates is known for his run blocking and had 26 catches for 272 yards and two touchdowns during a college career that began in 2018.
