C.J. Stroud matched his career high with five touchdown passes to propel No. 7 Ohio State to a 66-17 victory over Maryland on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

Stroud also threw five touchdown passes in Ohio State’s 52-13 win over Rutgers last Saturday.

His fifth touchdown pass against Maryland (4-2, 1-2 Big Ten) was a 30-yarder to Chris Olave in the third quarter to give the Buckeyes a 49-10 lead.

Olave had seven catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and Garrett Wilson had five receptions for 84 yards and two scores for Ohio State (5-1, 3-0).

The Buckeyes have won all seven meetings against the Terrapins since the latter joined the Big Ten in 2014. Ohio State has averaged 58.3 points per game in the six previous meetings.

Ohio State back TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 85 of his 102 yards in the second half. He had two rushing touchdowns and caught four throws for 67 yards and a score.

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was 28 for 39 for 279 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. His last pick was returned 70 yards for a touchdown by Craig Young to make it 66-17. Ohio State set a school record with pick-sixes in four straight games.

Maryland lost receiver Jeshaun Jones to an injury on the second play of the game. Maryland’s top receiver, Dontay Demus Jr., sustained a season-ending knee injury against Iowa on Oct. 1.

Stroud completed 17 of 22 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Buckeyes took a 35-10 lead. He finished 24 of 33 for 406 yards.

He took advantage of a depleted secondary that was missing two of its top cornerbacks in Jakorian Bennett and Kenny Bennett.

On a 36-yard scoring strike to Olave, there wasn’t a defender within 8 yards of the receiver. Later, Henderson was open on a swing pass and converted it into a 26-yard TD to make it 28-10 with seven minutes left in the first half.
