Center Tre Mitchell, who entered the transfer portal Friday in the wake of Bob Huggins’ resignation, committed to Kentucky on Monday.

Mitchell made the announcement on social media. Kentucky is Mitchell’s fourth team in five years.

Mitchell started 32 of 34 games for the Mountaineers last season, averaging 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

“I’ve gotta think about my future and ensure myself the best opportunity to follow that dream,” Mitchell posted to Twitter. “I know you guys will understand, if not today then you will one day.”

Mitchell has career averages of 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds for UMass (2019-21), Texas (2021-22) and the Mountaineers.

Joe Toussaint also entered the portal after Huggins’ resigned while Kerr Kriisa reversed course and decided to play under new West Virginia coach Josh Eilert, who will fill the role on an interim basis in the 2023-24 season.
