NCAAB: Top 25 roundup: Marquette stuns No. 10 Illinois

Tyler Kolek got a steal and scored the go-ahead layup with 19 seconds left, leading Marquette to a come-from-behind, 66-67 win over No. 10 Illinois 67-66 on Monday night in Milwaukee.

The Golden Eagles (3-0) surged back from a 12-point, second-half deficit as Darryl Morsell scored a team-high 21 points.

Justin Lewis added 17 for Marquette, and Kolek had 12 to go along with his five assists and five rebounds.

Trent Frazier scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds for Illinois (2-1). Coleman Hawkins added 13 points and eight rebounds.

No. 1 Gonzaga 84, Alcorn State 57

Julian Strawther scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures as the Bulldogs cruised to past Alcorn State in Spokane, Wash.

Hunter Sallis came off the bench to add 16 for the Bulldogs (3-0), while Chet Holmgren stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Drew Timme chipped in 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Keondre Montgomery scored 13 points for the Braves (0-4), who are opening the season with 13 straight road games before diving into Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Alcorn State also got 10 points from Justin Thomas.

No. 2 UCLA 100, Long Beach State 79

Johnny Juzang’s 25 points led five UCLA players in double figures Monday night as the Bruins pulled away in the second half to outgun the Beach in Los Angeles.

Jules Bernard added 22 for the Bruins (3-0), while Tyger Campbell scored 15 points and dished out six assists. Jaime Jaquez Jr. chipped in 17 points, and sophomore Jaylen Clark came off the bench to tie his career high with 10.

The Beach (1-1) got brilliant performances from Joel Murray and Colin Slater, who finished with 30 and 27 points, respectively. The duo canned a combined 23 of 30 shots as Long Beach State connected on 58.2 percent of its field-goal tries.

No. 9 Baylor 89, Nicholls State 60

LJ Cryer scored 20 points and Kendall Brown added 13 points and 10 assists as the Bears rolled to an easy win over the Colonels in Waco, Texas.

Brown also had a game-high nine rebounds for the Bears (2-0), who led wire-to-wire. Jeremy Sochan added 14 points and Adam Flagler and Matthew Mayer each added 12 for the Bears.

Ty Gordon led Nicholls State with 20 points. Latrell Jones added 11 points for the Colonels (3-1).

No. 19 Ohio State 89, Bowling Green 58

Meechie Johnson Jr. and E.J. Liddell each scored 13 points and the Buckeyes routed the Falcons in Columbus, Ohio.

Zed Key and Eugene Brown III added 12 points for the Buckeyes (3-0), who led 41-18 at the half.

Chandler Turner had 12 points while Joe Reece and Samari Curtis each had 11 for Bowling Green (1-2).
