NCAAB: No. 11 Gonzaga crushes NAIA Eastern Oregon 123-57

Graham Ike recorded 25 points and 11 rebounds to help No. 11 Gonzaga steamroll Eastern Oregon 123-57 on Tuesday night at Spokane, Wash.

Braden Huff scored 23 points off the bench and Anton Watson had 20 points for the Bulldogs (2-0).

Ike shot 11 of 12 from the field, Huff made 11 of 14 shots and Watson was 9 of 12.

Nolan Nickman scored 12 points and Ben Gregg added 10 for Gonzaga, which held a massive 62-29 rebounding edge while outscoring the Mountaineers 84-18 in the paint.

AJ Huddleston scored 12 points for Eastern Oregon. The game was an exhibition for the NAIA Mountaineers, who are 0-3 this season.

The romp was reminiscent of last season’s matchup when Gonzaga rolled to a 120-42 victory. That 78-point winning margin was the largest in program history.

On Tuesday, the Zags’ lead topped out at 68 points.

The Bulldogs shot 63.4 percent from the field, including 7 of 22 (31.8 percent) from 3-point range.

Eastern Oregon made just 28.9 percent of its shots and was 6 of 30 (20 percent) from behind the arc.

Gonzaga shot 62.8 percent in the first half while building a 63-30 advantage.

The Bulldogs scored the first seven points en route to another easy victory over the Mountaineers.

Eastern Oregon was within 28-19 after Huddleston’s basket with 9:14 left in the first half.

Gonzaga answered with a 23-5 burst to elevate its lead to 51-24 on Watson’s 3-pointer with 3:11 remaining.

The lead went over 30 on Ryan Nembhard’s layup in the final minute and Watson finished the half with a dunk to account for the 33-point margin.

The onslaught continued in the second half as the Bulldogs scored the first seven points with Ike’s layup making it 70-30.

Gonzaga’s lead reached 50 when Jun Seok Yeo split two free throws to make it 93-43 with 11:44 to play.

Joe Few split two free throws with 6:48 left to make it a 60-point margin at 109-49.
