Nebraska will look to continue its run of success at home when it takes on Bethune-Cookman in a nonconference game Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.

The Cornhuskers are coming off an 87-67 home win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley in their season opener on Monday. Senior Brice Williams had 27 points, his top total since transferring from Charlotte in 2023.

“His role is going to be to put the ball in the basket,” Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said of Williams. “It was great to see him get to the free-throw line for us. It was overall a good game for Brice.”

Former Utah guard Rollie Worster scored 18 points in his Nebraska debut. Fellow transfers Connor Essegian (Wisconsin) and Andrew Morgan (North Dakota State) scored 13 and 10, respectively, for the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska has won 13 in a row at Pinnacle Bank Arena, where it went 18-1 last season. The Cornhuskers will play their first three at home this season.

Bethune-Cookman opened the campaign with a 94-61 loss at Texas Tech on Tuesday. The Wildcats got 15 points and seven rebounds from senior forward Reggie Ward Jr., but they allowed the Red Raiders to make 16 3-pointers and shoot 57.1 percent from the floor.

“We have 11 new players, and we have to become a team, that’s the bottom line,” Bethune-Cookman coach Reggie Theus, a former NBA star, said at SWAC Media Day in September. “We have everything else in place.”

Ex-Coastal Carolina guard Brayon Freeman added 12 points and former Hampton guard Tre Thomas scored nine in their Bethune-Cookman debuts.

Bethune-Cookman will face six power-conference opponents on the road before jumping into SWAC competition in January. The Wildcats are coming off a 17-17 season, their best record since 2019-20.

The Cornhuskers own a 29-1 all-time mark vs. current members of the SWAC.
