Tamar Bates scored 20 points, Anthony Robinson II added 16 and Missouri ended a 21-game SEC losing streak by defeating LSU 83-67 on Tuesday night in Columbia, Mo.

Marquez Warrick scored 12 points, Mark Mitchell chipped in 11, Caleb Grill added 10 and Missouri (12-3, 1-1) defeated a conference rival for the first time since the 2023 SEC tournament.

Missouri’s offense bounced back from an 84-68 loss at No. 2 Auburn in its conference opener last Saturday, the only time this season that it has scored fewer than 75 points, by making 12-of-25 3-pointers.

Cam Carter scored 16 points, Curtis Givens III had 15, and Daimion Collins and Dji Bailey added 11 each for LSU (11-4, 0-2), which led for a total of just 25 seconds during the game.

Bates made a layup to start the second-half scoring and extend Missouri’s lead to 44-27. LSU got within 14 points twice, but Bates had four points during a 6-0 run that gave Missouri a 53-33 lead.

Missouri led by 21 points on two occasions before Givens made a 3-pointer as part of a 7-0 run that pulled LSU within 61-47. Grill made a 3-pointer to stop the run, but Collins scored five points to help LSU creep within 12.

A 3-pointer by Grill and a dunk by Mitchell put Missouri in command with an 18-point lead with five minutes remaining.

LSU’s Corey Chest’s field goal started the scoring, but Robinson scored five points during a 12-2 run that gave Missouri a 12-4 lead. Collins made a 3-pointer to stop the run, but Bates, Robinson and Warrick each made a 3-pointer during an 11-2 run that pushed Missouri’s lead to 23-9.

Jordan Sears and Bailey each made a 3-pointer to get LSU within eight, but Missouri scored the next six points to open a 29-15 lead. Bailey made a layup before Grill, Bates and Mitchell each made a 3-pointer to help Missouri take a 42-27 halftime lead.
