Kowacie Reeves scored a season-high 20 points and added ten rebounds to help lead Georgia Tech to a 70-49 rout over visiting Alabama A&M on Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia.

Miles Kelly also tallied 11 points for the Yellow Jackets (5-3), which shot 24-for-56 (42.9 percent) from the field. Tyzhaun Claude poured in ten points on 4-for-4 shooting from the field and brought in nine rebounds.

Alabama A&M (1-7) was led in scoring by Chad Moodie, who had eight points. Caleb Blackwell added seven points for the Bulldogs, who struggled mightily to find their offensive rhythm, shooting just 16-for-58 (27.6 percent) from the field and 2-for-20 on 3-pointers.

The 49 points allowed were the fewest the Yellow Jackets have allowed this season, and the 21-point win was their second largest margin of victory through the first eight games.

Tafara Gapare knocked down his first 3-pointer of the season with 9:48 remaining in the game to give the Yellow Jackets a 57-27 lead, their largest advantage of the game.

The Bulldogs didn’t score their tenth field goal of the game until a Moodie layup at the 6:18 mark of the second half.

After trailing by 30, Alabama A&M outscored Georgia Tech 22-13 over the final 9 1/2 minutes.

Georgia Tech stymied Alabama A&M in the first half, holding the Bulldogs to just 21.9 percent (7 of 32) on its field goals, and just 1-for-10 on 3-pointers, en route to a 34-17 Georgia Tech lead at the half.

Alabama A&M jumped out to a 7-5 lead but scored just ten points over the final 14:53 of the first half.

Reeves paced the Yellow Jackets’ first-half scoring with 14 points and added eight rebounds. Kelly totaled 11 points in the field half. No Alabama A&M player scored more than four points in the opening half.

Both teams will hit the road for their next games, with Alabama A&M heading to Samford Monday, and Georgia Tech going north to take on Penn State in New York City next Saturday.
