Guards Mark Sears of Alabama and RJ Davis of North Carolina were the leading vote-getters to headline the Associated Press preseason All-America team, this year a six-man team and represented by just three conferences.

Duke freshman Cooper Flagg tied with Arizona guard Caleb Love, creating the six-man team. They are joined by Kansas big man Hunter Dickinson and Auburn forward Johni Broome.

The ACC, Big 12 and SEC account for all six spots on the First Team.

Sears was one vote shy of being a unanimous selection while Davis garnered 51 votes. Both players tested the NBA waters this offseason before deciding to return.

Sears led Alabama to the Final Four last year and a No. 2 preseason ranking in 2024-25.

“I saw the team that we had and I wanted to be a part of it, and bring home Alabama’s first national championship in basketball,” Sears said.

Davis was the ACC Player of the Year in 2023-24 and named an AP All-American.

Flagg, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2024-25, is the only underclassman represented on the team. He’s also projected to be the No. 1 player taken in the 2025 NBA Draft.
