JP Estrella, a four-star recruit out of Maine, committed Friday to join the Tennessee program.

Estrella ranks No. 40 overall in the Class of 2023, per the 247Sports composite, and No. 7 among centers. He’s listed as 6-foot-11 and 210 pounds and plays for Brewster Academy, a prep program in New Hampshire.

Estrella’s other finalists were Syracuse and Iowa, but he found his best fit with coach Rick Barnes and the Volunteers.

“Coach Barnes and the whole staff have a vision for me and I can see myself being in that vision,” Estrella told On3. “I also think I fit in that program really well especially with it being a fast-paced league and I’m a very fast big man.”

Estrella is Barnes’ third commit of the class, joining four-star combo guard Freddie Dilione — No. 27 overall in the composite rankings — and three-star power forward Cade Phillips.
