Warriors Gaming Squad won a showdown with Bucks Gaming 78-73 on Friday to finish atop the Western Conference’s Group B in qualifying for the NBA 2K League’s The Turn event.
Charlie “CB13” Bostwick scored 27 points for the Warriors, who went 6-0 in the group. The Bucks fell to 5-1 despite a 31-point effort from Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken.
Earlier on Friday, the Warriors pounded Pacers Gaming 74-49 behind 19 points and six assists from CB13 plus 18 points and 12 assists from Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser.
Joining the Warriors and the Bucks in advancing to bracket play out of Group B were Blazer5 Gaming (4-2) and Pacers Gaming (2-4).
In Western Conference Group A, Pistons GT topped T-Wolves Gaming 93-84 and then crushed Grizz Gaming 86-63 to cap a 6-0 run. Anthony “ANT” Costanzo produced 30 points and 21 assists for the Pistons in the first game, and he posted 28 points and 19 assists in the second game.
T-Wolves Gaming, DUX Infinitos and Jazz Gaming all wound up 3-3 to claim the last three bracket positions out of Group A.
In the remaining Friday matches, Blazer5 blasted Lakers Gaming 87-59, DUX Infinitos blitzed Mavs Gaming 75-54, the Bucks demolished Kings Guard Gaming 80-47, the Jazz edged the Grizz 75-72, and Blazer5 nipped the Pacers 64-62.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments — The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket — that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington. 76ers GC defeated T-Wolves Gaming to claim The Tipoff earlier in June.
Remote group play in The Turn established the bracket for remote bracket play. The event will conclude with in-person tournament play at District E in Washington in late July.
