Top-seeded Pacers Gaming got past a team of European amateurs 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Steal Open on Friday in Washington.
The event will determine the final two berths in the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 playoffs. The 15 NBA 2K League teams that didn’t qualify automatically for the playoffs were entered along with amateur teams from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Action began Friday with the European squad sweeping the Asia-Pacific squad 3-0. That sent Team Europe to a matchup with Pacers Gaming, which the NBA 2K League squad won.
Up next for the Pacers will be a quarterfinal matchup against eighth-seeded Magic Gaming, who downed ninth-seeded Raptors Uprising GC.
Another quarterfinal will feature 13th-seeded Blazer5 Gaming, a 3-2 winner over fourth-seeded 76ers GC, and 12th-seeded Mavs Gaming, who swept fifth-seeded Grizz Gaming 3-0.
Second-seeded Jazz Gaming ousted 15th-seeded Kings Guard Gaming 3-1, setting up a quarterfinal against seventh-seeded Lakers Gaming, a 3-1 victory over 10th-seeded Heat Check Gaming.
Third-seeded Hawks Talon GC swatted Hornets Venom GT 3-0 to earn a quarterfinal date with sixth-seeded Wizards District Gaming, who bounced the Gen.G Tigers 3-0.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will all be played on Saturday. Both finalists will advance to the 3v3 playoffs, with the winner also pocketing $25,000.
