The NBA 2K League will fill 51 roster vacancies with a draft among its 24 teams to take place Feb. 26 in advance of the league’s fifth season.
Mavs Gaming will have the No. 1 overall selection, followed by Cavs Legion GC and Bucks Gaming. The draft also will include expansion DUX Gaming, which represents Mexico.
In total, 69 players from last season were retained on their teams with the rest of the rosters to be filled in the draft.
The draft pool will consist of players not retained from last season, as well as eligible players from the NBA 2K League Draft Prospect Series, select participants in NBA 2K League’s Women in Gaming initiative, NBA 2K League APAC and European Individual participants and high performers in the 2K community.
The draft will be held virtually and live streamed on YouTube and the league’s Twitch channel. NBA 2K League president Brendan Donohue will announce the selections.
“Since the league’s inaugural season in 2018, we have grown domestically and internationally to 24 teams and witnessed incredible moments – both on and off the virtual court – with the hundreds of NBA 2K League players who have made the league what it is today,” Donohue said. “The NBA 2K League’s fifth anniversary season is not only a tribute to those teams, players and countless individuals who have been a part of the league’s history, but also a celebration of the next five years and beyond.”
Wizards District Gaming is the two-time defending NBA 2K League champion.
