Mavs Gaming already won big before the 2022 NBA 2K League even started, earning the right Wednesday to make the top selection through the draft lottery.

Cavs Legion GC earned the second overall pick to add a player to next year’s squad, while Bucks Gaming will select third overall.

Lakers Gaming will draft fourth, while DUX Gaming, an expansion team that joined the league as its 24th member in September, already had been designated to make the fifth pick.

Mavs Gaming had the league’s fifth-best chance at winning the top pick in the lottery at 10.2 percent. Conversely, Lakers Gaming, Bucks Gaming and Hawks Talon GC all had the best chances at 15.4 percent.

Per a news release from the league, the draft pool will consist of “players who win draft eligibility as part of the “NBA 2K League Draft Prospect Series.” It will also included, “unretained players from the 2021 season, select participants in the NBA 2K League’s Women in Gaming initiative, select competitors in the NBA 2K League’s APAC and European Invitationals, and high-performing players in the 2K community as determined by league and team officials.”

The date of the 2022 NBA 2K League Draft has yet to be announced. The draft lottery was conducted via a computerized random number generator.
