Harry “CP” Friedman poured in 37 points and handed out 10 assists while leading Grizz Gaming to a 74-70 win over T-Wolves Gaming on Tuesday as play began in the NBA 2K League’s The Turn event.
Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd and Maurice “ReeseDaGod” Delaney added 12 points apiece for the Grizz. Michael “BearDaBeast” Key paced the T-Wolves with 24 points and nine assists.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments — The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket — that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington. 76ers GC defeated T-Wolves Gaming to claim The Tipoff last week.
Remote group play in The Turn will establish the bracket for remote bracket play. The event will conclude with in-person tournament play at District E in Washington in late July.
Elsewhere on the opening night of The Turn, Warriors Gaming Squad thrashed Lakers Gaming 84-51 behind 22 points and 10 rebounds from Jaden “Nay” Bhopal plus 22 points and nine assists from Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser. The Lakers got 22 points and seven assists from Iball “Ryan1of1” Harris.
Cavs Legion GC took down Wizards District Gaming 75-67 as Antoine “ANTOINE” Featherstone amassed 26 points and 10 assists. Justin “Kapp” Kaplan logged 24 points and 10 assists for the Wizards.
Hornets Venom GT edged Hawks Talon GC 71-69 as Antoine “antoinelove” Times scored 32 points and dished eight assists. Caesar “ceez” Martinez posted 38 points and seven assists for the Hawks, but it wasn’t enough.
Anthony “ANT” Costanzo’s 29 points and 11 assists powered Pistons GT to a 68-66 triumph over DUX Infinitos. Zach “Vandi” Vandivier wound up with 25 points and six assists for DUX.
Bucks Gaming topped Kings Guard Gaming 64-51 with Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken producing 25 points and six assists. Kerry “Kerry” Thompson and Brayden “Bray” Puchalski each scored 14 points for the Kings.
Malik “OriginalMalik” Hobson notched 21 points as Knicks Gaming beat Celtics Crossover Gaming 70-57. Leche “Leche” Jamous had 17 points and eight assists for the Celtics.
Jazz Gaming earned a low-scoring 49-43 win over Mavs Gaming as Mykel “Kel” Wilson scored 20 points. Ludlow “Glo” Samuels put up 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Mavs.
Heat Check Gaming staved off Raptors Uprising GC 74-73 with Ky “Ky” Johnson contributing 31 points and nine assists. Anthony “Gazulli” Gonzalez scored 25 points for the Raptors.
