76ers GC rallied to defeat T-Wolves Gaming in the championship match of the NBA 2K League’s 5v5 The Tipoff event on Saturday in Washington.
The T-Wolves were the two-time defending champions of the tournament. The 76ers also won the title in 2018 and 2019.
T-Wolves Gaming took the first game 70-52 but 76ers responded with an 89-68 win in Game 2 and 87-56 in the clinching third game. Andre “Dre” Marshall scored 21 points with 11 assists in the finale.
Daniel “DT” Tlais of Canada was named tournament MVP. He scored 20 points with seven rebounds in the finale and averaged 14 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists over the three games. Shooting guard “630” Enrique Xavier Barraza added 23 points and three assists in the final game.
76ers GC take home the $100,000 first prize while T-Wolves get $50,000 as the runner-up.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments — The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket — that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington.
Remote group play in The Tipoff set the field for this week’s remote bracket play. The tournament is concluding with in-person tournament play at District E in Washington.
