NBA2K: 2 community teams prevail in NBA 2K League’s Switch Open

Community teams Dot Squad and Rim Runners upset NBA 2K League teams as bracket play began for the 3v3 Switch Open on Tuesday.

Dot Squad, seeded 26th out of the 32 teams, defeated No. 7 T-Wolves Gaming 3-2, taking the final two games in the best-of-five series. No. 27 Rim Runners won the first two games before pulling out a 3-2 victory over No. 6 Warriors Gaming Squad.

The 25 NBA 2K League teams, who were seeded based on qualifying results the past few weeks, are joined in the double-elimination bracket phase of the $150,000 event by seven community (amateur) teams.

Top-seeded Knicks Gaming had no trouble in its bracket opener, blanking No. 32 Gamers First Longhorns 3-0. No. 2 Bucks Gaming dropped their first game but then rolled to a 3-1 win over Glo Navy Glosquitos.

No. 3 Pistons GT posted a 3-1 win over No. 30 OTF Vultures, and No. 4 DUX Infinitos swept No. 29 Handlez 3-0. No. 5 Pacers Gaming crushed No. 28 Glitchy 3-0, and No. 8 NBL Oz Gaming defeated Hornets Venom GT 3-1.

No. 24 Lakers Gaming got a surprise 3-2 win over No. 9 Cavs Legion GC, and No. 23 NetsGC dumped No. 10 Kings Guard Gaming 3-1. No. 12 Jazz Gaming produced a 3-1 victory over No. 21 Gen.G Tigers, and No. 13 Mavs Gaming clobbered No. 20 Grizz Gaming 3-0.

No. 18 Magic Gaming topped No. 15 Blazer5 Gaming 3-1, and No. 16 Heat Check Gaming handled No. 17 Raptors Uprising GC 3-1.

The last two first-round series are scheduled for Wednesday, with No. 11 Celtics Crossover Gaming to oppose No. 22 Wizards District Gaming while No. 14 76ers GC clash with No. 19 Hawks Talon GC.
