Charlotte Hornets center Kai Jones is expected to miss training camp for personal reasons and will be away from the team indefinitely, The Athletic reported Saturday.

Jones, a first-round draft pick (19th overall) in 2021 out of Texas, averaged 3.4 points in 46 games last season with 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocked shots.

In two seasons with Charlotte, after he was acquired from the New York Knicks the day after the 2021 draft, Jones has averaged 2.7 points with 2.0 rebounds in 67 games off the bench.

According to the report, the Hornets have remained in contact communication with Jones, although there is no timetable for his return.
