Addressing a need at center, the Los Angeles Clippers will sign Indiana Pacers center Daniel Theis after he clears waivers following a contract buyout, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Theis, 31, is expected to clear waivers Friday and join the Clippers, who are without backup center Mason Plumlee (sprained knee) and have lost six straight games since acquiring James Harden.

Per the report, Theis will sign a prorated veteran minimum contract of $2.1 million. Ha had $7.8 million left on his $9.1 million deal with Indiana.

When Theis signs, the Clippers will have 15 guaranteed roster spots, according to the report.

Theis appeared in only one game for the Pacers this season. He has averaged 7.5 points and 4.9 rebounds over seven seasons with the Boston Celtics (2017-21, 2022), Chicago Bulls (2021), Houston Rockets (2021-22) and Pacers.
