New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram escaped a serious knee injury but will miss at least two weeks with a bone contusion, the team said Friday.

Ingram had to be helped off the court to the locker room in the third quarter of Thursday night’s 121-106 loss at Orlando. The team said he hyperextended his left knee, with an MRI revealing the bone contusion.

He had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes before exiting.

Ingram will be re-evaluated in two weeks and will miss at least eight games. The Pelicans (42-27) entered Friday as the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

Ingram, 26, is averaging 20.9 points, 5.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 63 starts this season. He’s the team’s second-leading scorer behind Zion Williamson.

Ingram, who made the All-Star team in 2019-20, averages 19.4 points per game for his career.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, Ingram is in his fifth season with the Pelicans.
