Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell will miss at least the next three games after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection Monday to treat a bone bruise, the team announced.
Mitchell sat out the Cavaliers’ win Friday over the Detroit Pistons and the loss Sunday to the New York Knicks due to soreness in his left knee.
Cleveland hosts the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, visits the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday and welcomes the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. The team said Mitchell’s status will be reevaluated over the weekend.
Mitchell, 27, has missed 13 games this season. He is averaging 28 points, 6.2 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 47 games (all starts). He will need to play 18 of the final 22 games on the Cavaliers’ schedule to hit 65 games and be eligible for NBA awards.
