The Portland Trail Blazers said Wednesday that guard CJ McCollum is showing improvement in his recovery from a collapsed right lung.

McCollum had a CT scan on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated next week. He will not travel with the team on its upcoming road trip to Memphis and New Orleans.

His current recovery protocol includes light conditioning work, but there is no timetable for his return.

McCollum, 30, sustained the injury, called a pneumothorax, when he fell awkwardly during the fourth quarter of a loss to the Boston Celtics on Dec. 4.

McCollum has spent his entire eight-plus seasons in the NBA with Portland, which made him the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. In 24 games this season, he has averaged 20.6 points, 4.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds.

The 2015-16 NBA Most Improved Player has career averages of 19.0 points, 3.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 552 games (455 starts). He is a 39.7 percent shooter from 3-point distance.
