Tyler Pasher scored the tying goal in the 90th minute after a crucial mistake by Colorado goalkeeper William Yarbrough and Houston Dynamo FC forged an unlikely 1-1 draw with the visiting Rapids on Saturday in a wild match.

Pasher rushed into the offensive zone on a mini-breakaway and was well outside the 18-yard box when Yarbrough came way off his line to attack the oncoming threat.

Pasher was able to evade the Rapids’ keeper and kicked the ball into the bottom right of the unprotected net, allowing the Dynamo to split the points in a match in which they were outplayed and on the brink of defeat.

Memo Rodriguez garnered the assist on Pasher’s goal as Houston (1-2-1, 4 points) was able to snap a four-game losing streak to Colorado.

Mark-Anthony Kaye’s goal in the 42nd minute looked to be the only one the Rapids would need as Colorado used its defense to nurse the tally for the ensuing 48 minutes against offensively challenged Houston. The Dynamo had been shut out in two of their first three matches.

Kaye scored for the second consecutive match.

Houston has still not posted wins in back-to-back games since August-September 2020.

The Rapids (2-1-1, 7 points) got on the board in the 42nd minute. Danny Wilson leaped to just deflect a corner kick from Jack Price to back post where Kaye was waiting for an easy right-footed volley. There was some debate afterward that Wilson interfered with Houston goalkeeper Steve Clark as both jumped for Price’s corner, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Colorado racked up a 6-3 edge in shots in the first half and had the only three shots on goal, forcing Houston keeper Clark into two tough saves before Kaye’s goal.

The Rapids had posted shutouts in their previous two matches.
