Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson will visit a specialist this week to determine the severity of his fractured hand.

The U.S. men’s national team veteran was injured during training on Tuesday and is expected to miss approximately four to six weeks.

Johnson, 34, won 2021 MLS Cup MVP honors with New York City FC. He signed with Toronto in January and has six clean sheets in 19 starts this season.

Johnson has 96 career shutouts in 374 starts over 14 MLS seasons with the Chicago Fire (2010-16), NYCFC (2017-22) and Toronto.

Greg Ranjitsingh (four starts) and Tomas Romero (one start) will see more playing time in the absence of Johnson.

The Reds (5-14-3, 19 points) are currently mired in next-to-last place in the 15-team Eastern Conference.
