The Portland Timbers signed MLS Cup-winning goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau through the 2025 season.

The deal announced Wednesday with the 29-year-old free agent includes a club option for 2026.

Crepeau spent the past two seasons with Los Angeles FC after stints with Vancouver and Montreal.

He made seven starts in 2023 after returning from a broken right leg sustained in LAFC’s 2022 MLS Cup final win over the Philadelphia Union. The injury kept the Canadian international out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“We are delighted with the acquisition of Max Crepeau and welcome his family to Portland. His ability and character are standout qualities that will strengthen our group,” said Timbers general manager Ned Grabavoy. “Max possesses leadership and experience that was a necessity for us in this position and couldn’t be more thrilled by his addition.”

Crepeau has recorded 23 clean sheets in 100 MLS matches with LAFC (2022-23), the Whitecaps (2019-21) and the then-Montreal Impact (2017).
