Jordan Morris’ second goal of the match four minutes into second-half stoppage time gave the Seattle Sounders an unlikely 3-2 comeback win over visiting FC Dallas on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 in the 78th minute, the Sounders (6-7-7, 25 points) got on the board when Raul Ruidiaz converted a header off an Albert Rusnak corner. Ten minutes later, Morris scored on a similar play, heading in another Rusnak corner for the equalizer.

This set the stage for Obed Vargas to launch a pass downfield to Morris deep into stoppage time. Before two FC Dallas defenders could catch up, Morris shot and scored to complete his brace and Seattle’s improbable victory.

The Sounders are 2-0-1 in their last three matches and 5-2-4 in their last 11.

The loss ended FC Dallas’ own three-match unbeaten run (2-0-1). Dallas (5-9-5, 20 points) absorbed its first defeat in three matches under interim head coach Peter Luccin.

FC Dallas remain winless (0-7-3) on the road this season. The loss also continued the Toros’ all-time lack of success in Seattle, as the club is 1-11-4 in 16 regular-season road games against the Sounders.

Seattle outshot Dallas by a whopping 26-8 margin (and 9-5 on shots on goal), but the Sounders had difficulty finishing for much of the match. This allowed FC Dallas to build a sudden two-goal lead when Patrickson Delgado and Petar Musa each scored within a four-minute span.

In the 66th minute, Logan Farrington sent a tremendous cross to the middle of the box that found Delgado’s sliding shot attempt for his third goal of the season.

Just four minutes later, a nice passing play involving Farrington and Delgado set Musa up in the box. Goalkeeper Stefan Frei got a hand on Musa’s shot but not enough to prevent the striker’s team-leading ninth goal.

Musa has four goals in his last two matches, following his hat trick in Dallas’ 5-3 win over Minnesota United last Wednesday.

Ruidiaz leads the Sounders with eight goals, while Morris has six. The two forwards have combined for more than half of Seattle’s 27 goals this season.

Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira left in the 60th minute with an apparent leg injury.
