New York City FC rejected an offer from Argentina’s River Plate for 2021 Golden Boot winner Javier Castellanos, ESPN reported Saturday.

The offer included a transfer fee of close to $10 million but the defending MLS Cup champions would require at least $15 million to part with Castellanos, according to the report.

The 23-year-old striker, a native of Argentina, registered 19 goals and eight assists in 32 matches during his fourth season with NYCFC in 2021. He has 37 goals and 18 assists in 92 games (74 starts) since 2018.

Castellanos has drawn interest from other South American clubs this offseason, including a reported $12.5 million offer from the Brazilian side Palmeiras that was also rejected by NYCFC.

Argentina’s transfer window closes on Feb. 19. Brazil’s closes on April 12.
