The Colorado Rapids transferred goaltender Marko Ilic to Red Star Belgrade in his native Serbia on Monday.

Ilic, 26, recorded two clean sheets in 13 MLS starts with the Rapids in 2023. He has been on loan this season at Norway’s Sarpsborg 08 FF.

“We’d like to thank Marko for his contributions during his time at the club,” Rapids president Padraig Smith said in a news release. “We wish him all the best in this next chapter of his career.”

Ilic joined Colorado before the 2023 season from Belgium’s KV Kortrijk, initially on loan before securing a permanent move.

With his departure, Zack Steffen remains the starting goalkeeper with Adam Beaudry as the Rapids’ primary backup.
