The Colorado Rapids acquired German midfielder Jasper Loffelsend from Real Salt Lake on Wednesday.

In exchange, Real Salt Lake receives a 2024 international roster slot, a 2025 second-round pick and up to $100,000 in general allocation money if certain performance thresholds are met.

Loffelsend, 26, recorded two goals and seven assists in 51 matches (34 starts) with RSL from 2022-23.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jasper as the latest addition to the roster,” Rapids sporting director Fran Taylor said. “His athleticism and ability to cover extensive ground are notable assets. His versatility not only enhances our depth but also intensifies the competition within the team. We eagerly anticipate his integration into the group.”

Loffelsend played collegiately at Pitt from 2020-21 and professionally in Germany with multiple clubs from 2016-20.
