Nashville SC forward Tyler Boyd will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL in his knee.

Boyd will undergo knee reconstruction surgery within the next few weeks, according to the team.

Nashville announced the seriousness of Boyd’s injury on Friday and placed him on the season-ending injury list.

Boyd, 29, was injured during second-half stoppage time of Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to visiting Orlando City. There was no contact on the play as he fell in obvious pain and was taken off the field via a stretcher.

Boyd had two goals and three assists in 21 matches this season.

He was acquired from the Los Angeles Galaxy in the offseason. Boyd scored seven goals last season to tie for the Galaxy lead.

In 10 career matches for the United States Men’s National Team, Boyd scored two goals..

Boyd spent 12 seasons playing for overseas clubs, including stints in New Zealand, Portugal and Turkey, before joining the Galaxy prior to last season.
