Mohamed Farsi scored the winner in the 100th minute as the host Columbus Crew defeated the Chicago Fire 2-1 on Saturday.

Farsi scored his first MLS goal in his 40th match when he was alone at the right post to put in a rebound of a Diego Rossi shot.

The Crew (2-0-1, 7 points) are unbeaten in their last 14 home matches against the Fire (10 wins, four ties) since a Fire win on June 22, 2013.

Jacen Russell-Rowe put the Crew ahead in the 68th minute, nine minutes after entering the match. Fabian Herbers tied it in the 72nd with his second goal of the season for the Fire (0-2-1, 1 point). He scored off a pass from Maren Haile-Selassie.

The play was ruled offside but the call was overturned after video review.

The Crew came out hot in the second half beginning with a shot from 23 yards by Cucho Hernandez that Chris Brady saved in the 48th minute. He then stopped Yaw Yeboah in the 51st and almost immediately followed with a leaping parry of Sean Zawadzki’s strike from distance.

Brady had eight saves.

Chicago got a chance in the 61st minute when Hugo Cuypers had a break down the right side but his shot went across the face of the goal and missed the left post by inches. Five minutes later, he was in a similar spot and put a shot off the same post.

The Fire had the advantage of not playing midweek. The Crew traveled to Houston for a CONCACAF Champions Cup match on Wednesday. The Crew won 1-0 on a 96th-minute goal by Alexandru Matan.
